Preventive Dental Hygiene
Dental hygiene and gum disease prevention
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease is one of the more prominent diseases in Canadians.
Gum disease has been directly linked to diabetes and heart disease which is why we recommend regular dental check ups, dental x-rays and teeth cleanings once every six months.
Despite your best efforts to maintain your oral health, gum disease can still occur.
Our team at Hollinger Dental will work closely with our patients to help prevent gum disease and symptoms.
How do I know if I have gum disease?
While gum disease may not have any symptoms you may experience some of the following:
- Swollen gums
- Bleeding gums
- Red or purple gums
- Persistent bad breath
- Sore gums
- Receding gums
If you have any of these symptoms, you may require gum therapy by a periodontist, depending on the severity of your gum disease.
